We realise that our website contains a lot of information regarding paint and that it is sometimes difficult to remember all of the information when talking about paints with clients.

Because of this, we have summarised some of the most frequently asked questions, which you may find helpful. If you still have questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Are your paints environmentally friendly:

YES. Our paints are made with a minimal amount of VOC, which means that no toxins are emitted during the drying process

What are VOCs:

VOCs are Volatile Organic Compounds. In order to make paint into a liquid that can be applied, the pigment and binder paste needs to be thinned. Historically, solvents were used. Water is used to thin our paint (99.7%).

What is a rub test:

The strength of our paints is measured in rub tests or cycles. This measure literally signifies how many times a painted surface can be rubbed with a garden brush before degrading. Other well known brands normally range from 200 - 1000 rubs on test - our paints START at 2000 rubs on test and go up to 10000!

Will your paints last longer than other more conventional paints:

YES: All paints contain pigment, binder and thinners and so, to the naked eye, appear the same. We ensure that the quantity and quality of our pigments is at an optimum level to produce a paint that is hardwearing and washable. Our paints don't fade or yellow either. All of this means that your paint finish stays looking good for much longer than it would if conventional paints were used.

Will your paints cover well and give a professional finish:

YES: We have achieved the optimum balance of pigments and binders to produce a paint that flows and levels beautifully, with high opacity (coverage and hiding power). This means that the paints will cover exceptionally well and provide a professional level of finish with little effort. Is it true that some of your paints are steam cleanable: YES: Our Semi Matt and Semi Gloss 10000 is a steam cleanable paint. This makes it great for commercial applications, heavy duty kitchens and hallways, wet rooms, swimming pool areas, hospitals etc.

Can I use detergents to wash down your paints:

YES. All surfaces painted with our paints can be washed down time and again with abrasive cleaning fluids eg. Jif

Are your paints suitable for kitchens and bathrooms?

YES - especially our semi matt and semi gloss 10000 as it is mould resistant as well.

Do you have a paint for woodwork:

YES. Our Furniture Paint is recommended for all woodwork applications including furniture. Its magnificent powers of levelling means that you can achieve a beautiful professional finish

Can your paints be used on radiators :

YES. The best paint would be Furniture Paint, although the Matt 5000 would be very suitable too

Will your paints fade or yellow over time :

NO

Are your paint swatches handpainted with real paint :

ABSOLUTELY. Each swatch is painted with 2 coats of our matt 5000 interior paint, using a roller.

Can you reproduce colours accurately

YES. Because of the precise way in which we fix our colour recipes, you can be sure that each colour is reproduced accurately.
